VoIP Comparisons: Finding the Right VoIP Provider

The essential features of any provider are clearly critical to learn when making VoIP comparisons. For one you want to determine what signaling protocol is supported by each provider, with the two major options being SIP and H323.

Both of these are independent VoIP protocols however each functions with incredibly different types of messages and equipment. SIP is a newer and more modern standard, and is almost always the protocol of choice. On the other hand, H323 is the older and less adopted protocol, and is most often found to be used with providers who have older equipment.

Also when making VoIP comparisons you want to consider the different transfer features and this should actually be one of the most important aspects of all when making VoIP comparisons. If a VoIP provider does not support the SIP REFER method, then transfer features will not work, because the third party that is involved will not be able to receive contact information in order to establish a connection.

Finally when making VoIP comparisons, you need to consider what their geographical coverage is for VoIP-to-PTSN gateways. This is especially important considering that the vast majority of telephone end points are still conventional telephone lines. It is very important in any outbound application for the user to be aware of the particular geographical coverage of the service provider’s gateways.

As long as you have taken all of the necessary information into consideration and made yourself as informed and knowledgeable on the matter as possible, then you should be able to enjoy great results. The more you know, the better off you are going to be, and so it is really important that you understand the situation before diving headfirst into it.

Choosing a VoIP service provider is a big deal, and you want to make sure that you pick the one that is going to be best suited to you and your needs.
